new critter

well. in our new tank we have a new critter. connie and i have very different opinions about what it is. it looks kinda like a small star. kind of. it has about 6 or 8 legs. it is living in a colony of zoas where i cant get to him. i took the rock out to try and flush him out to no avail. i took a pair of tweezers to try and pull him out. his leg broke. his leg is still squirming around in a bowl of water. his legs stick out of several holes in the colony. i took a pic and maybe i can post it if i can figure it out. i think he's something i don't want.

Looks like a harmless micro brittle star. Google micro brittle starfish and see if it looks like yours.

Looks like a micro brittle starfish. Most of have a lot of them. I think they clean up stuff in the small nooks and crannies that everything else misses. Leave um alone and they will multiply in your tanks. Won't hurt a thing. :angel:

just looks weird. he stays in the rocks and zoas and the legs stick out everywhere. i guess connie was right....as usual lol.

he is minus a leg now tho lol...

He'll grow a new leg. Most of them have 6 legs but usually 3 of them on one side are shorter than the others. Get a flashlight and look around before the lights come on in the morning. You can probably seen some on the glass where you can get a good look.
