New cube

Guys i'm starting a 24 gallon jbj nano cube for my bedroom. Got my water, live rock and carib sea sand in it. It got crystal clear yesterday and i place a piece of frozen shrimp in there to stay the ammonia spike. I was looking to get a protein skimmer but want to keep the hood on. Any ideas on what could be best. I believe the chamber i have available is 3x4x16 inches. Any thoughts?

I gave up trying to put a ps in my biocube. It worked haphazardly for me.
In fact I took off the canopy and use a hob style.

Great cube.
You can do everyday a WC of 1 gallon and don't run a skimmer, I wouldn't thou as I'll opt for a skimmer.
Any livestock plans............ of course in a week or 5 when you cycled through all the way.

Already in plan. A pair of snowflake clownfish, an orange spotted goby, pistol shrimp and of course my fiancé's favorite, mandarin goby. That's it. Definitely zoas, acans, duncans, feather duster and who knows.

I have an Aquamax HOB Skimmer on my cube, and placed it in the back chambers. You just need to make sure there's plenty of water in the back for it to run continuously

I have the Coral Life protein skimmer in my Biocube and I haven't had any problems with it. Fits right in the back chamber.

EDIT: I just noticed you have a 24 gal cube.. mine's 28 gal. I am not 100# sure if the aquamaxx HOB will fit. will need to recheck before you shuck the money

I took the hood off. the only thing I had to do to get the hood to open all the way was to trim back a piece of the skimmer.

How good of a job does it do? I have heard from others that it lacks in the effectiveness department.

Make sure to stock pods after the cycle.
