I have a nuvo16 and am letting it run through its cycle. I started getting a lot of brown algae that covered everything. I still haven't tested my parameters yet. Will the brown algae go away or should I manually clean it off the rocks and substrate? It has been cycling for about 2 weeks now. I have no problem with the "waiting game" as I use to run a 75gallon reef system a while back but I never got this much algae on my 75. I am guessing it is because this is less volume, therefore making it quicker to spread. Could someone give me some insight on how I should go about handling this tank? I want to do it the right way the first time.

It will go away. I just actually helped another guy with the same problem. It can come from the tapwater top offs, or some brands of sand, or saltwater. But eventually it will starve.

You could clean it off and blow it around, that will help. But eventually it will go away.
