New Derasa Clam

I just got a new Derasa clam and I am acclimating it to my coral QT as we speak. I cannot put it in my invert QT as I do not have the proper lighting and I just had a couple questions.

1. I was planning on putting it on the sand bed of my QT but the lighting is only about 70 PAR in my QT sandbed. Will that be enough for 76 days in QT or will I need to put it on the rack at 100 + PAR?

2. If I need to put it on the rack, I do not have a lot of room since I have three Torches currently in QT that can reach pretty far. I do have space next to the Torches, but I am not sure if the Torches will sting the Clam or not. So the question is, do Torches sting Clams?

3. And should I put it on the rack near the Torches or try and rearrange some things to get it away from them?

4. I know Clams need food as well as good lighting and flow and I have some Phytoplankton for it, but do I just dose the tank or feed it like I feed my corals, (turkey baster right near the mouth)?

Derasa’s don’t need a huge amount of light but 70 par for that long may be pushing it.. mine Is on the sand bed and gets about 160, I’ve had it about 5 years.

Torches will probably try to sting it if it’s within reach.

I would never try to directly feed a clam, broadcasting phytoplankton for whole tank consumption would be ok but light is all they need.

In the sand, that’s natural for them.
Definite NO near torch.....nothing should be close to a torch, or it will be torched.
Why r u QT for so long?
Make sure their is nothing on the shell, especially pyramid snails and put him in the tank.
Does not require feeding.

Because of the fact that I have a tank full of pretty expensive Tangs that are ICH magnets I QT all inverts, coral and algae for 76 days and fish for around 30 depending on how it goes. I have dealt with everything in QT including ICH, Marine Velvet, Uronema, Brook , Flukes, bacterial infection etc... For this reason, I will not put anything in my tank that has not been through a proper QT.

Agree or disagree, that is my process and I am sticking to it.

I have mine in a low/medium glow area with about 150 par. It’s doubled in size in about 3 months
