Just picked up a new Derasa.....I have struggled with clams in the past but I figured I would give them a second try. My biggest issue has always been placement. Can I just place it on the sandbed? No matter what I did in the past, it seemed to be tipped over by morning. Do they attach their foot on the sand itself or bury it down to the glass bottom? How do I keep it from tipping over? I have tried using PVC cut in half, placing rock on both sides of it, etc with no luck.

Mine derasa say level on bare bottom
The other 2 Maxi I super glue with a piece of small rock to level it(I put it on flat surface and level with small piece of rock/frag plug to level it and squeeze super glue onto it the clam shell)

Just place it on the sand bed. Depending on size a weight will determine if it keeps tipping. I like ceramic discs I got from thrive to place the clams on. If it's to big for a disk then it will be fine alone. Deresa species prefer the sand. I strongly advise against any glueing of clams. Clams move for different reasons and can be unhappy where it is, do not glue it to anything to make it stay where you want it.
