So I am curing some dry rock for a new tank setup in a few months and was wondering if I put the rock in a rubbermaid tub with a power head and heater if I can just put the water from my display tank in it when I do my water changes every week?

I don't see why not as long as your not sucking the gunk out. Although that might not be that bad either... :-)

Ok I was just worried about it just soaking up the nutrients from the old tank water and then when I put the rock in the tank it will just release it into the tank although I run a low nutrient system so I guess it shouldn't be bad

You will but it will also help seed the rock. FWIW I would use some fresh mixed in addition and maybe add a bottle of Tim's One and Only or the like to help seed the rock anyways.... JM .02

Probably won't hurt any, as long as your current tank is disease and pest free!

No issues in display all corals get dipped and like I said I run low nutrients too. So I'll give it a try. Should I add a light for a couple hours a day just actinic maybe. I'll put a piece of good live rock in there with it to help seed too

I would get the rock going in the can. If the rock has any debris or organics on it I'd let it cycle for a few weeks till PO4 is really low. You may need a couple of 100% water changes after week 3. Then you could seed with some nice live rock and add some light if you want to get the rock going before it goes in the tank. Seeding it for a couple weeks before use will only help your new tank setup. If you hit it with light before PO4 goes down you may have a hair algae farm.
