I wouldn't waste my money on them they are just moon lights and won't promote any growth at all. I have the Steve's led kit installed in my biocube 29 and I enjoy it and have great growth with all corals including sps. I think next I'll buy an ai prime and retrofit it into the hood since I have a known jumper fish and a 2 year old son lol.

It honestly may not be for awhile I'm enjoying the current setup but I have been wanting to try it out. I'm having an if it ain't broke don't fix it kind of moment lol. My current endeavor is installing my eshopps nano cube sump in the stand of my biocube. The problem isnt the install or plumbing, but with my ato container. I can't find one thin enough to fit in the tank stand next to the sump that wont cost 100 bucks and I can't do one out of the stand bc the little man will for surely play with it and stick toy cars in it. So my plans are dead in the water for now.

So I checked out your vid. You know you can totally cycle your live rock with the tank, right?
+1 on the live rock u should have it in there already...also is the swing arm in the tank. If so it's saying u have 0 salinity.....im no genius but ummm if u didn't put saltwater in ur tank with ur live sand then ur live sand is probably kinda all dead sand now lol.

sorta. i just don't have any atm, and there's no place nearby that sell any. i plan on going to a place in Austin (about 30 miles from where i am).

Ok. I would not consider the tank to be cycling until you get some live rock in there. Chances are once you put the LR in, you will have some die off and your ammonia will spike. You will not have enough good bacteria to start counteracting the spike.

I am assuming that you live in Texas. Do what you can to ditch that hood. One bad day and that tank will be cooked in those temps. I had my biocube in Arizona, I know. Now I live in NM and it gets hot in a hurry.
Hahha ok good I was worried for a second there, I keep mine a bit higher lingering in between 025-026 but i have a reef tank. Idk if your planning on keeping reef or fowlr but if corals r even a slight thought in ur mind id start raising that salinity up b4 u start adding anything

i really don't wanna risk my cat deciding to jump in it one day. i'm gonna keep the hood for now and if high temperatures become a problem, i'll consider it.

so going back to the live rock issue. would it be best to just add plain dry rock? i know it's a longer process but i really don't wanna have to re-do all of this if i don't have to ...

I started with a cube myself and still run it today!! I use it as my full sps tank now and it's been moded beyond belief which is something that I'm sure you'll fall victim to. Starting off since you don't have fish or live rock in there yet I'd remove the bioballs and get the intank media rack and go with filter floss, Chemi pure and later some phosphate media... you can even thow the balls you bought in there for now they will help for sure. As far as lighting, I was able to grow all the lps and softies I wanted with them even acans up high!! Your best friend in this tank is gonna be 5 gallon weekly water changes, I'm 4 years in now and ignored that for the longest time and tried to fight issues with reactors and other additives but now I run no skimmer, a media reactor with phosguard, hoodless with custom top, reef radiance leds, chemi pure and 5g change a week and have a thriving mixed reef that people love more than my 120g a lot of the time... Rutien changes and research are gonna be your biggest help towards success with this tank coming from a guy that made all the rookie mistakes!! I even have had a harlequin serpent star for 2+ years now so everything is doable just listen to advice and take things one step at a time

Dry rock is an option but is best left for a second or third tank imo. It's a longer process and if not handled right can result in high phosphate levels on occasion.. order live rock from BRS or a reputable source and you'll have a very low chance of introducing unwanted pests into your system.. you'll still get a cycle with dry rock once your bio filter is established, but you won't know when it's coming
