New Equipment Cleaning?

Does anyone just stick new equipment in their tank and forget about it, or should a presoak be done to clean off any manufacturing residue? If so how would be the best place to clean it? Thank you

You could give whatever a quick rinse in the sink. No major residue on most aquarium equipment.

A quick rinse can’t hurt. Manufacturer’s use a release agent when molding plastics to allow them to drop out of molds. That said I’ve put pumps in my tank no problem, but it is a 180. Rinse can’t hurt

I have a 220, dilution to my advantage.
