Setting up my tank should i give my new equipment a vinegar bath before set up
 
Thank you i was in the hobby years ago just flew by the seat of my pants want to do it correctly this time
 
If you want it to be extra clean you can use a bleach solution. Then let it air dry because that detoxifies the bleach.

Although, I believe bleach to be unnecessary in this situation, I would like to expand on this, any non-porous equipment can be bleached safely. A 10% bleach solution is more than enough, and I would thoroughly rinse three time with fresh (tap or whatever) water. Air dry, then check for any bleachy smell... If you smell any hint of bleach, rinse again (lol, three times)...

Seriously though, bleach is for sterilization and will not help with any factory chemicals or residues on your products...
