So I recently got back into saltwater because I couldn't pass on deal I found just down the street. 40 gallon setup and running for 150 bucks. The lighting was not up to part whatsoever bit heading out today to find something nice. Probably led of some sort. All I have going in the tank is some live rock and a mated pair of clowns. Don't want to move to quickly until I get it rolling the way I like. First step is the light. Any advice or anything you're trying to sell that may benefit me please let me know. Thanks again!

Welcome to R2R Chad.
I like LED's and I would not go cheap. There are a lot of options out there. What one looks for is spectrum, adjustability, ramping ability. The upper end lights usually have an app to make these adjustments. For the future make sure the light interface with a controler.

I'm hoping to head out to a local place here in knoxville. Maybe the aquarium will have something along those lines. Looking to spend hopefully 2-250 for something to fit my needs.

I found an aquaticlife t247 that I've heard mixed reviews on. There's just so many options out there!

Welcome to R2R! It's great to have you here! I have, and love my LEDs. But I also loved my T5's when I had them. I had a combo unit with T5s and Blue leds and couldn't give up the shimmer and color. It was my favorite fixture, but it was too big, bulky and hot. Went all LED after that. Good luck!

About 2.5 stars on Amazon. What are you looking to have in your system?

If it was me, I would probably not cheap out and get myself 2 smaller fixtures like 2 ai primes. You could probably get used ones with mounts for as low as 150? 170 on here. Save 50+ more dollars? :) if you do want to go with the blackboxes, I believe most prefer the sbreef lights! The 32 basic will have all your basic needs without all the extras but for 50 dollars more I think it comes with timers and even ramping? Not 100% sure :) but good luck and welcome!
