Will this go away in a few days? Could it be a water level issue?

Thanks

I am a bit confused. What have you added. Is it a new skimmer? Is it a new filter pad?

I had an HOB on my 40G breeder and I switched it to a canister filter. I took the old media out and put it in the canister, which has a couple new filter pads/sponges. But it also is a completely new filter with different flow/output etc.

Likely oil from the manufacturing process is causing a reaction in the skimmer. It should go away soon. Adding carbon might help as well.

My confusion is that it's not causing the skimmer to overflow, quite the opposite as i've actually had to move my collection cup down about twice as far to even get it to foam.

The problem is the excess micro bubbles from the outlet, and it's really ticking off my whole tank..

This is not super unusual. Various materials can either shut down or overflow a skimmer. I still suspect it will go away given time.
