Hello,UPDATE:
IT WAS WHAT I THOUGHT. HE LIKES SHADE NO MATTER THE PAR. DIRECT LIGHT IS A NO NO AT LEAST FOR MINE. I SHADED HIM AND NOW HES DOING GREAT. HES JUST SO BIG IN MY TANK BUT THATS WHAT I WANTED AND NOT A BUNCH OF MICROSCOPIC FRAGS EVERYWHERE.
GOT SOME SCOLYS TOO AND THEY ARE DOING WELL.
I've had my elegance for almost a year now and I determined after many months of trial and error that flow is the only condition that they care about. Mine would not open in my tank and I eventually moved it to a frag rack and it opened so I thought it was more light than it liked so I moved it on top of everything near my Acros and it refused to open. After much research, it hit me that flow on the frag rack was pretty much non-existent which is why it opened. I ended up changing how the flow in the aquarium was and put it in a low flow corner on the bottom and it opened up that same day and was super happy and has grown so much this last year.
The sign of a happy elegance coral is super long tentacles that wave very slowly in the flow.
