New Fish Idea

Looking to add a new fish to my tank. Have a 75 gallon mixed reef that has been running for a year. Current inhabitants are pair of true perculas, pistol shrimp and pink spotted goby pair, McCoskers Wrasse, cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp, and blue tuxedo urchin.

Only have a 75 I have been trying to avoid fish that have a larger bioload and need more swimming space hence no Tang.

I was debating on adding another wrasse maybe of the fairy variety. Any advice on mixing fairy or flashers together or any specific species that anyone recommends?

Using a social acclimation box for a few weeks would probably be a good idea.

A flame wrasse is a good one.

Love our Red head Solon fairy. Nice purple/blue color to the tank and very active.

Lubbocks Fairy
Red head Fairy
Scott's Fairy
Red Velvet Fairy

Are the ones that I like but also open to suggestions. I previously had a Red velvet in another tank setup and really liked the coloration, but I am interested in trying a new species.

I know for certain the Lubbock would do just fine, but I have no experience with the others.

The scott's and red velvet may be a little aggressive toward a mckosker.

An acclimation box should only be necessary for a couple of days.

I highly recommend C. cf. lanceolatus.

Is there any other wrasses you would recommend? I don't mind spending money on a nice one, but these are relatively difficult to find, if I am not mistaken, and I am interested in what else you would recommend.

LADD has them fairly regularly and NY Aquatic usually has them too.

There are a few species that will work. C. rubriventralis, joanallenae, or naokoae, as well as lubbocki, lunatus, and rhomboidalis.

Socially it will be compatible, but Pseudojuloides are a little more difficult than fairy wrasses, they are more on par with leopard and Anampses wrasses. However, it should be a good fit.

Ruby heads get a little larger than the suggested species, but should be fine.

Thanks! I think I am going to go with Ruby, LFS has a great specimen, if it gets to large to quickly I have a friend with a huge 210 that will take him.
