New fish ideas for 29g reef tank.

Hello everyone. My 29 reef has been up and running for about 8 months now and I was wondering what fish I could add to my current stock list. I have a clownfish, a yellow clown goby, and a flame hawkfish. I had a firefish but he unexpectedly went missing about 1 week ago which is why I am making this thread. I think he either jumped out or was killed/eaten by something in the tank. (Hawkfish?)

Anyways I'm open to anything but would rather have a fish who is visible most of the time and will get along with the 3 I listed above. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

A Hawk fish is incapable of eating a Fire Fish, if there is no lid on the tank then jumping would be the logical conclusion.

A Royal Gramma might make a nice fit, but the tank needs a lid.

I want to but I've read Hawkfish will eventually eat the shrimps. Not sure if Pistols are safe since they seem more intimidating than a cleaner shrimp for example.

Also thanks for the suggestion Tahoe, the Gramma is a beautiful looking fish! I should probably invest in a cover but with winter comping and the tank being in a small room I would be a bit worried about PH and oxygen exchange. If I find a nice mesh/wire one I'll get it.

Bulk Reef Supply(DIY Version) and Artfully Acrylic(Higher quality) both sell mesh tops, I have the BRS ones on my personal tank. If you have a mesh top and plenty of water movement, oxygen shouldn't be a problem at all.

I've had a glass top in the winter in Ohio and Michigan and had no issues with dissolved oxygen or pH. It'll help on your evaporation and potentially help to hold in heat. I do second the lid either way and I highly suggest going for mesh over eggcrate. I've had eggcrate on my 125 for years and have still lost too many fish that shouldn't have fit through the gaps to jumping, like a 5" long male Pyle's Fairy Wrasse.

With a good lid, you greatly open up your options. You can of course get another firefish or I'd suggest considering the appropriate wrasses such as the flasher or six-line, a smaller dwarf angel species such as the Cherub, or really just go to Live Aquaria and other online sellers and browse their nano fish lists. They're pretty good and can supply you with great ideas.
