This is a Atlantic Blue Phase Tang; anyone know what the spot on his fin could be?

Is the spot flat or raised a bit?

It appears completely flat. Fish has been acting fine so far.

Forgot to say hello and welcome to R2R!

Do you have any stinging corals or spiny fish in the tank? Or have you seen any aggression from other fish in the tank?

Thank you! I have reading R2R for a while but never found the courage to ask a question!! I just bought him from LPS 3 days ago. This fish was in a holding tank probably with another 1 or 2 fish.

Blue tangs are famous for the spots that seem to crop up on them. Sometimes they are just a bump mark from when they sleep at night rubbing up against a rock or piece of equipment or from handling during shipping or netting at your LFS.

Sometimes though marks like that can be a symptom of a bacterial infection. Look for white to white-ish filmy area, or redness, or necrosis. Being ready with an antibiotic treatment is a good idea.

For mild bacterial infections can treat with Ruby Reef Rally in the tank.

For more serious bacterial infections, antibiotics may be necessary. Having them on hand is good as often waiting for them in the mail or UPS just takes too long. Here's a thread on antibiotics for you to consider:

I don’t see any white today. Looks like it’s starting to fade. This is so helpful to watch out for. Thank you so much!!!
