Hey guys, me again (second post, not too bad) Now to the good stuff. So I’ve got a new tank, been cycling for a few hot minutes, and now it’s time for the fish and things. Live rock check live sand check, but that was a while ago. I’ve got a baby gold stripe marroon clownfish and it’s anemone waiting for me at the local fish shop atm, and am looking for all the advice I can get, because I’d hate to be a bad dad for ‘em. The more info the better, because you guys are way more experienced than me. Inspiring right? This is only my second tank, and everyone should take time to learn. Thanks broskis:)

Welcome. Post as much as you want. There'll be the 1%-haters out there if you post a lot !BUT! that's their problem....

I post a ton and get haters dropping immature words on me....so i click on their avatar and click "ignore" and magically you never see there comments ever again.

So your maroon clownfish...
expect it to be pretty mean  once it establishes itself. I had one snd it BIT me every time my hand was in the tank. Understandable bc I was invading its home. I forgave each time bc it was defending its territory.....

For feeding I suggest smthg meaty like mysis Only feed one cube. A big mind trap is more food equal healthier fish. Bonk. No. Your maroon only needs one cube a day. No more or you'll poison the tank with overfeeding.

Keep posting! And "ignore list" tag all the 1%-haters;)

Welcome Jake, drop some more info for us so we can help. Tank size, how long has it been cycling, are you through the algea phase?

As Skimjim said before, those maroons can be mean. My very first tank was a 40 gallon and he was the only one allowed to be in the tank. He and I had a special bond, never nipped at me and every time I came close it was like he was happy to see me. They are extremely extremely hardy. the downside was that he would not allow another fish to be in the tank, as soon as I would put one in he would immediately go after them, when I did an in tank quarantine to warm them up together he would swim around the small holding cell like he was trying to get in. I loved my maroon, but I dont think I would do one again. But they all have different personalities so you never know what temperament you will get.

Hey Jake! #WelcometoR2R

Can we get some specs on the tank? Size, how long its been up, parameters, started with live rock or dry rock, etc.

Some pre-reading on anemones, may be bad news, maybe not ;Nailbiting https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/anemones-and-why-you-should-wait.448/
Alright so I’ve got a big 125 gallon, it’s been running for around 4 years, but the smaller tank is new. It’s around 30 gallons. I’ve had it running forrrrr... 5ish weeks but by the time the fish get home, it’ll be 6/7, because I’m not getting them until I get home(I’m on a trip and my dad is watching the tank). Parameters. Everything checks out even except the calcium so I have to dose that, but salinity normally sits around 1.024, temp around 78-79, ph sits at 8.3 and I’d have to look at my log (which is at home) for all the other ones, but nothing alarming. Last time I checked, nitrates and nitrites were falling and amonia went from around .15 to zero. I started the tank with live sand (Fiji pink) and around 15lbs dry rock, minimally. The tank has been dosed with coralline algae, and that is looking healthy. What else what else.. the new livestock: a cleanup crew and mooooooost likely a coral banded shrimp, my favorite. One (atm) gold stripe marroon clown, and one tiel blue bubble tip anemone to host. And also those teenie tiny white stsrfish that come with everythinggg.

Thanks for the info! I sent my tank stuff as a reply but hopefully all the info you need has been stated so check it out:) and then with the clown being hostile, I’m pretty prepared for having just two clowns some shrimp and coral. My dads bigger tank has all the pretty fish because that’s what he’s focused on, and I think I’d want to focus on those corals, and get it right, so we can help eachotherthe clown is also a baby so THE TIME IS NOW

Thank you!!! The owner of the shop gave me the most docile one they had, but I’m prepared for some nipsmy cat gets annoyed at me for invading ‘her home’ too

As you can see, I’ve got two marroon clowns already, and the little one is super nice and you can virtually “pet” it. The bigger one is a snob, but there’s a tiny mirror in the tank so the only thing he fights is his reflection. I guess he thinks he’s ugly or something

Might have a rough time with the nem. Most people will say the tank needs to be matured(greater than 1 year) and established for them to stay alive. Keep it fed.
