New fish. Medicate?

I set up a QT tank to qt all my new fish for four weeks before putting in DT. Question is do you guys just go ahead and medicate while in QT or just observe and only medicate if problem is noticed?

IMO you can start out with basic, less harmful, medications as a precaution; and with time, treat according to the symptoms you witness. I personally don't see a point in dosing for issue A if your fish is suffering from issue B, or if it even has any issues at all.

I ttm and use Prazipro, Prazipro is only med I proactively use due to internal parasites.

Makes perfect sense Cody. My biggest concern is ich. Had it before don't want it again. Almost just want to treat all new fish with copper to be sure. But at the same time I don't want to put a healthy fish through a copper treatment, even though I know most lfs have copper in there fish only tanks. Nor do I want to treat copper if fish has some other disease. Just curious what everyone else does.

Prazipro is a good medication to treat prophylactically.

Copper or Cupramine is a different matter. It should deal with many of the common infections that fish may have. But it can be hard on the fish.

It is a risk either way.

Ich can be dealt with by the tank transfer method which can be tedious. But the method does not work on some of the other diseases.
