I have a 20 gallon innovative marine reef with 2 clowns 1 orchid dotty back and one bengii cardinal. I want to add 2 more cool active fish that are always out and about. I have a reef glass nano skimmer and chaeto refugium with chaetomax light. I have never had nitrates or phosphates in this tank. I think 2 more fish would fill the tank out well. Any thoughts?

I think that’s pushing the inhabitant a bit. 4 fish in the 20 might be fine now, but once they’re fully grown they might get territorial, especially the clowns.

Right now the only fish I could think of to add might be a tailspot blenny. It is an amazing algae grazer, will stick to the rocks unlike your other fish, and won’t get territorial.

My suggestion would be to find cool inverts. A shrimp, urchin, sand conch, and/or crabs would be active and fun to watch.

4 fish is max for saltwater fish in a 20 gallon IMHO. That and having established clowns and a dottyback will make it very difficult to add new additions. They will likely view ANY new fish as an intruder/competition. I agree with the post above, and fill out your tank with some inverts, they will add alot to your tank and your fish won't care.
