Hi everyone,

I just got two new clown fish to my brand new 3 week cycled 20 gallon tank. I just installed my hygger wave maker which I believe puts out 1500gph. My new clowns which have been acclimated for 45 mins and then placed in the tank 15 mins ago appear to be just as far as possible from the wave maker in the upper corner. Is this due to the wave maker or just stress? If so does anyone know any good setting to change for the Hygger 14w wave maker?

That current has to be like a blender. You want about 400gph range

clown fish they like waves and this normal if you add the wave maker after the clown ,so they get scared form it now .which normal they will adopt to it . Just stop playing in your tank to avoid any stress or ich problem

clowns also like to just hang in the strangest areas and corners. Give them a few days. If you can, turn your powerhead down

I lowered it to the lowest settings in all 5 categories (morning, day, afternoon, dusk, and night! They seem to be a little more active, even at the highest setting originally they weren’t getting pushed around. I think they’re just still acclimating to the tank as I’ve read a lot that they like to stay in a corner were they feel safe! Thanks for the advice though I really appreciate it!

I would purchase a much smaller wavemaker or powerhead. That is way too much for that size tank. Leave it off for several days to let them acclimate.
I will keep it off for the next 2-3 days and I lowered the settings to the lowest and they seemed to be doing much much better! I’ll def keep it there when I turn it back on!

Clowns also just act a little weird sometimes, I would worry too much unless it persists for longer than a few days or they seem lethargic/sick.
