Hi guys,

I have a royal gramma and clown pair doing great. I recently added a small flame angel 3 days ago.the first two days he was slowly exploring the caves, pretty shy but he would make his way out in the open a little bit. For the past 24 hours, however, he’s been extremely shy and reluctant to come out at all.The first two days when I fed he was active but not really eating. Now today he didn’t even bother coming out from behind the rock. He physically looks healthy. but thought it was weird that he didn’t come out when I was feeding. When I go up to the tank he is definitely more Skeptical than he was before as well. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

interesting..found spot he likes feels safe ..hopefully is all, come back if see any visable probs, poss bullying ,observe, happy reefing

The clowns and royal gramma are all small and very peaceful. No bullying from them. He’s just been staying behind one spot. Water params are all good as well...

I disagree. Clowns are known to be aggressive and while not typical, my royal gramma was a major bully.

can you get pic's of flame?

He is just slow to adjust I think.
He has no idea whats out there, for all you know he may not like the look of something in the tank, or maybe the lighting is bothering him.

Give him time he has an entire new world to figure out and get used to.
He probably is eating more than you know.

My flame hawk was similar in his decision to come out.
Went from 6 weeks alone in QT and then into the DT.
I dont know if he was wild caught or captive bread.
He did not come out to eat for 3-4 days, but I am sure he did eat the stuff that floated into the rock work.
Took a week for him to be a regular in the open areas.

He’s just been in this hole and around it extremely wary the last 24 hours

give him time if any chance try get pics, did you qt?

my LFS Got him from quality marine and had him for about a week. They had the salinity dropped down low (1.011) in their tanks to avoid parasites in the chance that would happen since they were ordering from many places due to low supply of places everywhere.

gets any worse or probs we are here 24/7 ,best wishes...time..fingers crossed;)

Evening

Sorry for the trouble

if I may just chime in. Did you ask the LFS to feed him while you where there to see if he ate? Do you know what they fed, and what are you feeding? Sorry if I missed it.

How aggressively do your other fish eat? Sometimes the competition is scary for a new fish. My Pygmy angel was very hesitant to eat the first few days

Yes, I actually did. They fed pellets in front of me and he went for them. Didn’t eat aggressively, but he went for them. I alternate between brine shrimp, flake, and pellets.

The others don’t eat too aggressively. There’s definitely room for him, but it does seem like he’s scared to interfere.
