Gonna have some remodeling done. The flooring people are suggesting using a leveling compound in the kitchen to level the sub floor. I am concerned about potential fumes effecting my tank. Any thoughts or ideas on how to not get my tank nuked? It is a mesh top.

Cover with saran wrap then painters plastic and aim a fan at the area where they are applying compound and It may be cold but even open window and place fan at window to create an exhaust. If room gets cold, you can cover with a blanket for the short time needed

What are they suggesting for a leveling compound? Most are cementitious based and don’t emit strong fumes or odors. If it’s Ardex or Henry you should be fine.

Definitely unplug your protein skimmer. I’ve posted more than once about some folks who had a 7 year pair of large beautiful clownfish. Long story short, New puppy pooped on rug, cleaning crew and chemicals came in and cleaned rug, then sprayed for smell. Next day the clowns were dead. Very possible they would still be alive if their skimmer was shut off. Great question though. :)
