Hello All

First saltwater tank here but I've had several freshwater ones over the years. Setup and filled my new Evo about 3 weeks ago using Imagitarium pre mixed saltwater, 17lbs reefsaver dry rock, and 15lbs of Carib Sea Aragonite pink Fiji live sand. I probably should've started dosing the ammonia back then but it didn't happen. Yesterday I finally added Dr Tims ammonia chloride per the instructions, checked my numbers today and below is where I'm at.

Ph- 8.1
Ammonia- 2ppm
Nitrite- 0
Nitrate- Looks to be between 5-10ppm
Salinity- 1.023 Which has remained same since filling

Any tips or recommendations on what I should be doing or adding to the build? I did buy a bottle of the arc Coraline Algae+Nitrifying bacteria, pictured, and it's supposed to arrive today. Would like to add a powerhead, not sure which one yet? Plan on keeping stock lights for now and doing some beginner corals along with 2-3 fish. Using store bought ro water for top off and still have 2 jugs of the Imagitarium premixed water for when I do wc. Will probably switch to mixing my own salt (looking for a decent mix?) in 5 gallon bucket night before doing wc, I don't have room to setup and store water.

Instant Ocean or reef crystals are good salt.

Agreed there's a lot of salts out there with just as many opinions about them. Find a salt that matches the parameters you want to keep and roll with that salt.

Welcome to R2R!

Odd to have ammonia and nitrates but no nitrites. Any tests before adding the Dr Tim's ammonia? What test kits?
Everything was at 0 last week except for the ph and salinity were the same. Did notice some faint green algae on a few of the rocks. Lights have stayed off except a few minutes here and there to show people the tank. Using the API mater saltwater set, I know I know, not the best but what I have for now.b
