New fluval evo 13.5 setup.

I have a question I got a fluval evo 13.5, yesterday, I'm going to set it up, and eventually put a pair of clowns and a cleaner shrimp and Also coral. What I want to know is, what type of upgrade for the pump would you recommend I have a bunch of jebao pumps that I really like. What jebao pump fits the evo 13.5. Also what wave maker would you reccomend and also, should I upgrade the media chamber and put a basket in?

I kept a thriving evo without adding a wavemaker or upgrading the pump - imo it’s only necessary if you are keeping high flow corals.
I do highly recommend the baskets - it helps water clarity immensely.

I would like to keep the higher flow corals, I'm big about my pump being quiet, because it will be in my bedroom. So it is something that I want to upgrade for sure so do you know possibly what jebao DC pump would fit?

Most Fluval Evo owners opt for the Sicce pump upgrade. The InTank media baskets are also a popular upgrade, and they offer a bunch of other upgrades as well.

Thank you!! Im excited looks like a great tank for the price. The lighting from what I've read, and talked to my local shop say that it will grow anything, and is actually a good kelvin for all corals. I would prefer to stay with the stock light to help with evaporation, does fluval offer a upgrade light to fit in the lid?

The pump itself is silent. As with all AIO, there can be minor water flow sounds based on water level. You're going to have more difficulty of silence if you decide to put an ATO system (which I highly recommend you do at this size of an aquarium)

In my opinion, the stock light will grow any soft coral, not any coral. I would question it with any other corals. My LFS has one and the acans are reaching for light, and they are known to like low light.

I had the nanocap k1 skimmer, but I decided to shift to a mostly just refugium system

Ok gotcha, is there a upgrade light that fits, the tank lid?

Not that I know of. There are many reason I prefer removing the lid, the main 2 being:
- Better oxygen exchange
- Less heat trapped

I understand the massive benefit of reduced evaporation, but make sure this doesn't come at the cost of the aquarium being too hot. Corals are more resistant to water being too cold rather than too hot. Removing the lid also allows you to install a fan to manage this.

If your bedroom has central AC and is always at a consistent temperature, this is not a concern. If it is not, temperature and evaporation would be your number 1 concerns for a 13g AIO.

Keep the tank very stable, place in a medium light, medium flow area.
Don’t get for at least 6 months.

Stock light will grow most corals. There is a thread somewhere with par readings. I've had great luck with mine fully stock other than an extra powerhead.

Sicce 1.0 with 1/2” rfg is all you need. A Sicce 1 will turn the tank over 22 times or so. Plenty good unless you want an acro forest. Stock light grows everything, it’s all about placement.

The only upgrade I did was the lighting to a Prime HD with a tank cover , and that only because with the lid on the tank overheated for me.

I wouldnt get a skinmer. I have one and it makes some noise. This is a older post, but for some whobare watching and was wondering.

I've been running my EVO for 2 years and the intank media baskets made a huge difference so I highly recommend that upgrade along with the sicce pump which is nice and quiet. You will definitely hear water flow so if you have another room you could put it I'd opt for that since you mentioned being a light sleeper. The skimmer I would skip because you can handle nutrient export with water changes on this small of a tank. The stock light I can't say for sure what it would grow since I opted for a Kessil a160 with a Clear Lids tank cover. The lid isn't cheap but it's high quality and aesthetically it is a huge improvement over a cheap screen top imo. +1 for the ATO it's a must have or you'll be getting up at night to add water when the pump starts sucking air and making a bunch of noise. Plus you want the consistent salinity level that having an ATO provides along with not having to worry about your tanks water level when you're away from home.
