I'm currently finishing up my stand for my 40gal RR frag tank. I have an e-shopps 300 sump with a refugium, Skims SN123 skimmer, carbon and GFO reactor, controlled by a reefkeeper lite.
Planning on putting a kessil a80 sun over the fuge running opposite my 4ft 6-bulb aquaticlife t5 lights. Also thinking of running a biopellet reactor as well.

Was going to do a fishless cycle with bio spira and let it sit lights off for a month before transferring my frags.

Does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations ? First-time time I'm setting up a permanent frag tank like this

Once you put the bio spira in you'll need something in there to feed the bacteria. I always put livestock in the tank 24 hrs after adding it.

I'm using the Dr Tim's ammonia... it's pure ammonia and cycled my last fowler in 3 days

Lets see the stand!
sorry no help but im doing something very similar
I'll have a pic of the stand up tomorrow, I am building it 42" tall with 2 shelves because I don't want to be hunched over when I'm working in it lol, should be staining it Sunday to make it pretty =P

Skip the bio pellets until your parameters are high and uncontrollable.
I suggest using some live rock or marine pure to control instead.
Also i found that when I had no fish, the coral would not do as well. I think they were starving and had much better results with a fish or two minimum.

I have a six line wrasse, 3 turbo snails, and 2 emerald crabs in my current 20 long frag... thinking of putting a tang in it as well... but which tang is the question =P has anyone had luck with marine pure blocks on nitrates?

The Tomini tang could do OK in that size tank for a little bit but will ultimately need a bigger home. I would also keep an eye on the emerald crabs. I had two in my reef to help knock down some Valonia. They did that but when the algae was not to be found, they started eating some of my corals, particularly my Stylos.

Yea emerald crabs scare me when it comes to corals, but I have such a big issue in my current frag tank that I needed something... they seem to be doing a pretty good job

Have you considered the Red Sea Foundation?

I've been using the red sea liquid foundation for alk and calcium, seem to do well

Here is the unfinished product. Just finished the fabrication and now I just need to stain it. Thinking of going with a black stain. Something that still shows the wood grain but matches the frame of the tank.

I made the stand tall so I won't break my back constantly working in it =P not sure if I want a second shelf in there though

Apologies, I meant the reef mature pro kit. You can only use it on a new tank.

I was just looking at that system, very interesting... this tank I am going to cycle with ammonia and bio spira just because I'm not looking to grow coraline on any aqua scape or anything... I do want to try the no3 po4x though

Stand is stained, tank is 1/2 full... ran out of water =P I'll finish filling it tomorrow and start the cycle...
