In the process of setting up a new frag tank and had a few questions. It’s going to be an old deep blue 60 gallon frag tank with a r-300 sump(for adding in future tanks). I’m doing a completely separate system from my display tank. I did want to seed it with water and rock from my display though. My plan was to do a 30 gallon water change on the display, use that water in the frag tank and then use my new mixing station and fill up the tank and sump the rest of the way. When I first set up my display I through in a ton of those marine bio bricks and rock into the sump. Was going to take out some of that to seed this tank. Is this a good overall plan or should I change something? And since I’m using water and rock from an established tank can I throw in some cheaper test frags to see if they’ll survive right away or should I wait a while? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated, thanks :)

Little update got the stand built and should be able to start plumbing it Thursday once I get supplies from lfs hoping to get this up and running on Saturday. Did have one question though, going to be primarily growing zoas in this tank do I really need to be worrying about calcium and alk and setting up an auto doser or should the zoas not really take in that much calcium and alk?

With just softies youd be fine replenishing with only water changes.
