I'm in the process of setting up a new species tank and I initially wanted to do a Peacock Mantis but after researching their needs found that it does not do well under intense lighting. I wanted to have corals and some macro algae in this setup so began looking for another cool invertebrate or fish.
The tank I'm setting up is a 20x20x12 acrylic tank with a corner overflow. I had it built with 1/2 inch acrylic for the sides and the return is opposite of the overflow coming from the bottom. I will be rockscaping a separate island around this outlet a it will be camouflaged with this and mangroves I have growing out. there will be a separate larger island diagonally from this with caves and overhangs for the frog fish to perch on.
Corals will be mostly softies and LPS I have collected for this setup and it will all be tied into my existing 165 gallon display tanks sump/return system.
Lighting so far I have will be a couple of options. I have two boostled par30 lamps with 2rb, 1b, 1cw, and 1ww, I have a 1st gen AI Led laying around or a Reefbreeders D120.
I'm in the process of building the stand and it will be an extention of my existing DIY stand I will post some pics of that as I get further along.
