This is my third trip into saltwater aquaria. The first, and biggest, was in early 70s. I had two 150s, two 100s and a couple of 55s that were used as q and hospital tanks. The next was late 80s early 90s when i set up a reef (unheard of in the 70s) with drip filters and MH lights. I was amazed that this was even possible. Lost it in a divorce. Now i have a 36 g bowfront. I'm constantly amazed at how rapidly things change. I'd never heard of a refugium. I have this little tank set up with 10,000K and actinic T8s, 21 watts of LEDs (of the wrong spectrum), skimmer, 10 gallon refugium and a hang on back filter that really serves as wave machine more than anything else. I have 5 fishes, 2 anemones, 2 colts, zoas, star polyps, red mushrooms, toad stool, ricordea, and an unknown red polyp so far. I love learning new things. I'm a very kinetic learner so i'm DIYing most of this stuff. It amazes me that you can build a reef in such a small tank. That goes against everything i learned when i first started. Anyway, i'm having a blast. I need to learn more about lighting especially with the growing popularity of LEDS.
