Hi folks. Getting back into the hobby after a long hiatus. I'm currently gathering equipment and diagramming a large FOWLR tank and separate sump room in the neighborhood of a 600 gallon DT and 200 gallon sump. Should be a blast as it has some custom dimensions required and will be totally DIY. I kept 2 separate tanks back in the mid 1990s and have wanted to get back into the hobby since then but life happens.

Anywho, I look forward to contributing and chatting with you all and picking your brains for ideas on this project.

Welcome. :-)

welcome back! that's a large project you got there. are you doing an acrylic tank or concrete?

I am building a custom bar aquarium with viewing panels in the front. It will by layered birch plywood with 3/4" low iron glass for the panels in the front and a custom acrylic bar top that will float above the bracing in the top of the tank. This way when things are placed on the bar top they can't make their way into the aquarium and it also keeps vibrations to a minimum.

The overflows will empty into a sump on the other side of some drywall.

I may use cinder blocks as a base with a 2.25" thick plywood base.

Planning on some big messy fish so the more room the better.

There will be a separate thread on it.

awesome build. keep track with a build thread as you go! itll be awesome to watch this project turn into a beautiful finished product!

not sure what you plan on using for a sealer but I recommend a product called pond armor. 2 coats and youll never have an issue and itll never wear out.
