Hello,

My name is Keith I live just outside Columbus Ohio. I have been keeping a reef tank for about 2 years now. I started with freshwater because my daughter loved looking at the fish. I never had any luck because I didn't know anything about keeping fish. I figured add water and toss in fish. I lost a few and quit trying to do it. Then my daughter decided she wanted "Nemo". My wife talked me into trying saltwater. I got a 30G tank and stand from a friend and had the tank drilled. I added a 10G sump, and SC-65 skimmer, a 400Gph return pumnp and some cheap power heads. I got about 40lbs of live and dry rock. I got the tank cycled, which was something I didn't know about when I started freshwater. After the cycle I added a pair of clown fish. I was doing water changes and water top offs on a regular basis. I added a fire fish, it died after a few weeks. I added a few shrimp, one at a time, and they kept dying. I added a cleanup crew and they kept it pretty clean. Earlier this year I got a 55G tank for free and built my own stand. I bought some more dry rock and was waiting for it to cycle. While the new tank was cycling one of my cheap power heads went nuclear and burn up in the tank to the point of blowing the power cord out of the unit. It killed everything except for the original pair of clown fish. I cleaned the tank up and after the new tank was completed with its cycle I transferred the rock from the 30 and the pair of clown fish. I added a pair of the Jabeo WP-25 wave makers and a new return pump. About 2 weeks or so after transferring everything over I picked up a Flame Angel. He was doing great eating well and swimming all over the place. then about 2 or 3 weeks later I found him dead on the bottom. I have no clue what happened to him. A few weeks later I picked up 2 emerald crabs and a purple firefish. One of the crabs has molted already, and the firefish seems to be doing good as well. I picked up my first 3 corals ever last week. I added a Reefbreeders Photon 48 light and the corals seem to be doing well also. It took them a few days to get acclimated but they are opening up and seem to be doing good. two weeks ago I was given a 150G tank. So I am in the planning process again. I need to have my basement remodeled and I will be setting up the 150 down there. I will need to build a new stand again and order new equipment. I need to get a new skimmer, and a new return pump. I'm not sure about the WP-25s yet though. Some people said they will be under powered for the 150G and I have been told the pair will be fine for for a 150G. I need to figure that out. I have time though, I am not planning on starting this build until the Spring. I have a added a few pics from teh progression...

The old 30G when I first set it up.

The stand while I was building it for the 55G.

The new tank on the stand with some of the rock.

Some of the plumbing for the new tank.

The 3 corals I added. I don't know what they are, I let the wife and kids pick them out....

Thanks for looking and talk to you soon.
