New From Ohio

wow you sure have some neighbors here .really cool

Welcome. I'm about 45 minutes east of you. There are quite a few nice shops around and some I would avoid. If you can n get some rock locally and dry rock for the majority of it you can save some money. I like the rock from reefcleaners. Definitely watch the BRS videos. They have a new Series of 5 minute videos to make it a little easier to watch. I'd be happy to help you with some advice whenever you have a question. Just pm me.

would you recommend. i saw this just browsing.

just my opinion i would start with 60 lb all live and skimmer ..old school..seems to be a lot of reefers here by you to hook you up on good clean sources n prices ;)

There is Tampa bay saltwater and KP aquatics. Probably 2 of the more popular vendors for live rock. And yes, it is expensive. $10.00 a pound adds up REAL quick. You don’t have to get all live rock. Just getting 20 pounds or so would go a long way towards seeding dry rock quicker. But if you can swing 60 pounds of live rock, that would be best. I also agree, that a skimmer is also something to not cheap out on. You will get 20 different opinions on the best skimmer here, so you’re probably best doing some research and narrowing down your choices before asking an open ended question about skimmers.

I am currently in North Canton. The rocks are south seas rock i purchased them about 8 years ago and had them in a 55 cichlid tank. I had this tank for maybe a year but had to relocate for work so i re homed the fish and kept all the rock. As for my build i guess im looking for a mix im willing to put in the effort. Im willing to start slow and move up to more difficult corals as i gain experience and knowledge. if i have to purchase new rock i'm willing to do so as form what i was told i will have to wait 12 weeks to event start my tank.

Thank you for the quick response
When your tank is ready: You can’t be far from Tidal Gardens .... also might roll down I76 to I71, get off at/near Strongsville and pay Aquatica a visit

So there has been a slight change of plans. My wife wants to use the 75 as a Cichlid tank. I will be setting up a 40 gallon breeder as my first reef tank and she has promised to let me get whatever size tank i want in the future if i am successful. This is good as i believe this will be closer to my budget. I will have a small delay in the start of this tank as i purchased everything for the Cichlid tank and it cleared me out today. I hope to get it going in the next few weeks when i replenish my funds.
