Hi everyone !

I'm from Switzerland (sorry for my bad English), i ve just bought a reefer 170 like a month ago. And I'm here to solve a big valve (drain pipe) problem.

It's seems you have several topics about the spears gate valve, but I m not good at all with do-it-yourself, and I still dont understand how to change that valve. Anyway ill post something in the right section.

Hello,

Wow that’s awesome your from Switzerland, it would be awesome to see how reef tanks are done over there. It would also be fascinate to see what kind of corals you have access to. Not to mention lol welcome to R2R, where to be honest the people are incredibly amazing, everyone is super nice. There is also an insane amount of knowledge from all the members as well.

We would love to see pics of your new reef tank and building of it. I’m not certain which valve your referring to, but a picture of what you have and trying to do would be super helpful.

Sincerely
Sarah

Welcome to R2R! Good luck with your build. I am sure there is someone who can help with the valve issue.

Welcome to R2R! Spears gate valves are very nice! Most guys use them to create/control a siphon. This allows the correct amount of water to be let through based on your return pump flow so that no air is sucked into the pipe breaking the siphon. Usually used in conjunction with a specific type of overflow drain setup.
