Hello all. I just joined. Thanks for the add. I've been considering getting into reef tanks for at least a couple decades and my son showed interest in aquariums so that was the push I needed. Actually he just wanted a fish for an aquarium that he got as a gift a couple years ago and my wife asked if we can get Nemo. Lol. A week later my son got a beta and I picked up a small fluval flex and set it up for saltwater. I know it is small but I don't want to get a larger tank until I redo out basement/family room. Well that's a quick rundown of how I ended up here. Thanks for having me and thanks for reading.
Hi and welcome to r2r

feel free to ask questions . We’re all here to help and learn from others

Welcome to the Reef :)
I'm jelly ur location! hop skip jump from "fragbox dude"
Thanks. I will look into fragbox dude. As of right now I have to get on a highway and drive an hour each way just to get salt. Lol

I’m sure there are closer places in Windsor ?
There was a store but it closed a couple weeks ago. Petsmart is the next best. They have a small rack that was saltwater specific. No saltwater fish at the stores around me. Closest I know of is Chatham or Detroit, MI area. It is like that for many different things I'm into. Kind of a bummer.

The pets mart stores around me don’t have much for saltwater at all .
They do carry io and rc salt but they are over $90 per bucket .

I remember others talking about a few other nice coral and reef shops around windsor but can’t remember who .

Ya. Windsor petsmart doesn't have reptiles either since the city bylaws don't allow them. I actually live in LaSalle and there is a reptile store around the corner from me. I have a couple crested geckos.
I did join the Windsor saltwater group and got a couple contacts for frags and coral but no word about fish. I actually went to Chatham the other day and picked up a couple clowns. That's how I discovered that there is some supplies about an hour away.
Hopefully another option opens up around me but until then, I guess I just have to depend on Chatham or when I go visit family in GTA. One of these days I will check out the Detroit area also.

I’m late to the party, I know! I just wanted to chime in as another Essex County resident and say that I share your frustration in finding a source for supplies. Sam’s Pampered Pets in Belle River used to carry some saltwater supplies but I haven’t been in there recently. Ruffin’s in Leamington carries frozen food and will also order salt for you.

Late to the response but welcome. I am also in Windsor. Unfortunatly our only options is crossing the border into Detroit. Border officials have not bothered me on importing as long as its personal. You just cannot bring in skelton building corals (no lps and sps).
