Arrived on 4/9, and just finished 10 days of non medicated QT. I have cipro and amox at the ready, but these two never showed signs of needing treatment. They went through a little bit of inflating/deflating over the first couple days, but their mouths always remained for the most part closed.

Here are a couple shots taken immediately after I added them to the DT this morning (in hindsight, I should have also taken a few on arrival and during quarantine).

The smaller of the two looking a little unhappy about the move.

And the larger one. Also looking irritated.

Both gigs are super sticky, and attached to the rock straight away.

I’ll take/post some more photos as they get settled.

Thanks for looking!

Both gigs settled in over the weekend. I added an extra Maxspect gyre (currently on the lowest alternating flow setting) which will be dedicated solely to the larger of the two anemones. Thinking I’m going to have to move the smaller one to the other end of the tank and do the same, as I don’t feel that it’s getting quite enough of the right type of flow in its current spot. I do keep a fair amount of SPS coral in this system, mostly porites, so the overall flow in the tank is pretty high, it just needs a little help getting to the right places.

Best of luck to you. Seems like the larger one has a bit of yellow-ish undertones.

They both seem to be doing well. I haven’t been directly feeding them, but they catch a bit of LRS reef frenzy when I broadcast feed the tank.

Got them from reef beauties. I’ve been hesitant to attempt keeping this species, but after seeing some others on this forum being sent decent gigantea from them, I decided to give it a shot.

Here are a few recent pics.

A good shot of the siphonoglyphs. They are sometimes visible while opening back up after a meal. A fair amount of yellow on the larger one for sure!

I find it strange that you've had these gigs for a couple of months but they still look like they're acclimating. My gigs never expose their siphonoglyphs even after eating. Their tentacles are also quite a bit longer than yours. Were the photos taken just have the lights were turned on?

Interesting point actually, I’m interested to hear also. My gig I had long ago had a very sealed mouth and I don’t think I ever saw entrails after it finished.

My new Gig. @D-Nak just send him to me yesterday. Less than 24 hrs in my tank. Recovering from being bleached.
That is a 2 inches PVC pipe I use to elevated the Gig to light and current. It is attached to an oyster shell. About 1.5 inch.

No, the lights had been on for several hours when I took those. I did do a 20% water change the day before, however the tentacles are always stubby as in the photos. Siphonoglyphs are usually slightly visible after feeding, regardless of water changes. Aside from feeding, the mouths are always fully closed. From your response, this sounds like something that I should be concerned about. Do you recommend that I pull them and treat with abx as a precaution? I have cipro and Amox, however the Amox is 3 months past the expiration date printed on the bottle. It’s been stored properly, but I wanted to throw that out there anyway. Any advice on how to proceed is greatly appreciated.

@Sir Bubb
How are your Gigantea? I have to go out of town for almost 10 days. My anemone idi not improved when I was gone. There was storm here I. Corpus and electricity **** down. This mess up my automation and the tank was under 24/7 light for an I know duration of time. No mortality but a little bleaching and set back.

Are you doing anything specific to help with the bleaching? Such as feeding it a tentacle from an established gig? My blue from the same batch is pretty bleached still despite it being quite a while. Pictures make it seem bluer than it really is.

I don’t have to do transplant with mine since the repopulation already restarted.
I would not hesitate to do it if I don’t see any zooxanthellae, especially if he is eating and I have access to healthy Gigantea tentacles.
For mine I just feed him.
