I bought two heads and they arrived on Friday. The gold torch has not opened and now is totally recessed. I notified the seller and he stated it just splitting? Looks Pretty bad to me. What do you think? The indo is doing great.

It all receded tightly to the middle. I guess I’ll give it a few days before I bother the seller again.

That sucks man I'm sorry.

I had 1 do the same, the water it was shipped in was close to 65 degrees so it had really no chance but looked similar to yours.

I hope it comes back but I feel it's a goner :(

I’ll keep my fingers crossed, waited a whole year and spent my xmas money on it. I hate to go after the seller, I mean who’s responsible? He shipped well.

Did you contact him when you recieved it just in case? He/she may honor a DOA agreement if so

Yes, he stated it was growing a new head? Never seen that, usually Euphyllia will not behave like this. We’ll see if he honors DOA. I’ll update this thread and let you all know how it goes.

Sorry man, but my money is on the side that says it's gone... I've only recently gotten a gold torch, but the other euphyllia corals I have all split over time without ever pulling in like that.

I think it's time to contact the seller again - good luck to you.

...on the flip side, I am admiring that caulastraea. If you live close to North Alabama, and are into trading, let me know...

Thanks man, have a few colonies that size all from a single head. Unfortunately I’m in Colorado.

How was it packaged? Floating upside down attached to foam or similar or simply laying in the bottom of the bag? Euphyllia can be mortally wounded if free laying pretty easy. You can see the sharp edges around the top of the skeleton that when bouncing around during shipping, or even just mishandling when moving around the tank, that can cut into the flesh causing severe damage.
Judging by the pic in the opening post it'd be a miracle if it makes it. Sorry, I know the pain.

It was just laying in the bag. That must be the issue! I did not realized it was shipped incorrectly. Thanks for the education, I’ll let the seller know also.

Good call! I have seen them fall into the corner and suffocate in their own slime as well.
