I saw that they just posted this up for sale and I'm considering buying it. Its called the ATL Grafting Raspberry Sherbert Acropora. Should I get it or is there cooler grafted corals. Here is a pic.

What causes the grafting in certain corals? I heard somewhere that it is some kind of disease or something like that? Sorry if this is off topic and mods feel free to erase if necessary. Just curious is all.

Ricky,

Isn't grafting the combination of two corals grown together? I have seen some pretty cool ones, but that one looks cool too.

pretty cool looking to me...i always wandered what the grafting was myself...we should start a thread and not take from the op. get to it someone..let's find out how it is done or what exctly happens...they charge good money for them im curious!!!

The pic looks pretty nice. I think it would be worth 90 bucks to have a nice one of a kind piece in your tank. Good luck

Ricky,

Grafting is the same as in horticulture, and its where the idea came from, ever heard of a fruit cocktail tree? 2 corals same sub species, placed so they grow together. I have been considering a trellis system for zoas, also a horticulture based idea/ technique.

I emailed them earlier about this coral and the other Raspberry Sherbert Acropora they have and they said, They are the same piece. It has been turning different colors. It will start to graft under high light. Just wanted to share that little bit of info with you all.

Well according to reef farmers the graft came from a piece of pocillipora touching the other and while in transit for a week or so from Bali it stuck together and when they spereated it the green stayed.. They have actually grafted 3 generations now with the same corals... It goes on to say that the green will become perdominant and take over if it is not farmed to keep it from spreading... Kinda wierd...:(

sharing is caring homeboy...

I thought you got your chunk already

Besides, I think I will fragging up some corals as that piece is a polyp away from my cali tort. Its already surrounded my lime in the sky colony

Just looking at these pictures, the tank sure has grown in over the last 3 months 1smile1

They are both the raspberry sherbert, different than the raspberry lemonade.
