So i just added my first 2 corals to my new 30 gallon since i lost my 55 gallon stocked tank to a crack . When i got home from my lfs i let themboth acclimate to temp and then i just added them since me and the lfs run the same salinity. My xenia are looking great within minutes of adding them. But my gsp opened a little within the first hour then i relocated him to a solo rock since i didnt want him on my main for spreading reasons. And now he is fully closed nothing but his purple matt. If water peramiters Are needed i can get that for you but everything is in safe range however my alkilinity is around 7 drops which i started dosing for today to get that up . Here are some pictures and if you have any suggestions for placement im all ears.

Gsp can take take up to a couple weeks to fully open back up after moving it. It’s got nothing to do with your parameters, they can just be pouty sometimes. Over the next couple weeks it’ll start opening up a little more each day until it’s fully open, could start tomorrow, could start next week, just give it some time.

everywhere I research says the same thing .. it can take a while to fully open. I understand that. I just find it difficult because how do you know if it needs time or if it just doesn’t like it’s location ?? Lol

It will be attempting to conquer the entire tank before you know it!
Im reading into growing it on the back glass, are any of you familiar with that and how or where i should glue it on the glass to avoid allowinG it to spread on the rocks ?

Quick update. The gsp came out today and looks great.. also I grabbed a new reef breeder light today along with some new corals from osa aquatics in coventry. By far my favorite store around with a great coral selection and friendly staff. Here are some pics of the new grabs today

Those are some great finds! As I'm sure you know, keep an eye on the xenia and don't let it on the main rock work. I just cut some off my live rock an hour ago because it managed to creep over there from it's island.
Are you sure you got all of it?!?!?

wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat walk to the tank and see the main rock waving at you. Lol

I found a stalk on the other side of the tank. That stuff is sneaky.

Oh yeah, I cut off the little piece of rock with bone cutters. Made a perfect frag...which I threw out. LFS doesn't take xenia.
