I was at my local aquatics store today here in North Las Vegas, and Greg told me about this site, he mentioned he is not a vendor yet so i wont mention names, But none the less here I am learning about my new hobby as much as I can.

I have been in the Pond hobby for almost 4 years now, and have learned alot of the particulars that come with raising koi, and keeping the pond clear. Living in Vegas this is not an easy task with the heat, But I have learned how to control it for the most part. I actually just finished making my 3000 gallon pond and right now I have 7 Koi in it ranging from 9 inchers-18 inches. I have alot invested in it as well. But alot of the filtration is similar just on a smaller scale, so I look forward to reading for many many hours and learning about this hobby as well.

Currently I dont have a tank I am in the market and have my eye on a few. But when i get one I will post pics of it.

thanks for the welcome, and hope to meet some and ignore few = ). Just kidding thank you in advance for any help given.

Welcome to R2R!

Here is the old pond, It had about 5 tons of rock that weigh between 20 lbs and 400 lbs that I had to manually move into position, it really was not cool :).

Here is the new one, Word of advice after building this 4 times, never preformed pond, never put any rock in the pond, you will hate the nightmares afterwards, as I did. the black mold stuff that is creates is really horrible to deal with and wont wash off for months, yes months.

the old pond had a PF3000 filter
Aqua 25 watt UV
2 sub pumps
2 waterfalls
pea gravel bottom
liner
5 tons of rock dry stacked on the walls
3 feet deep
9X8 feet

New Pond has the following
Ultra Midi Sieve
Ultima II 6000
2 tangible Pond Returns
1 Midwater intake
1 aerated Bottom drain
2 ES 5500 GPH external pumps with leaf baskets
1 80L Hakko aerator pump
liner only pond
6 feet deep
about 3000 gallons
3 tier waterfall
7 Koi
cinder block wall inside about 3 feet down with a footer, then dig the other 4.5 feet yes that is a 7.5 foot hole but the bottom drain with the 3/4 inch PVC for aeration is 1.5 feet so total depth of pond to bottom drain which is cemented in is 6 feet
lots of rebar about 100 feet I think
2oo cinder blocks
this pond is 12 feet long and about 10 feet wide 6 feet deep

here is a video of the plumbing

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

The pond looks great, the links worked the forum actually shortens the links and cleans them up.

Hello and welcome! Loved the videos of the pond, was a little scared for your camera though on the "new pond in action" video LOL So close to the water I was waiting for the bubbles to start! lol Again, welcome! :)

thank you, I was trying to capture the waterfall, because it is a small footprint, and in person it doesnt look as small as in a video :), but it is ok because I really enjoy it. thank you again for the welcomes
