New Guy intro

welcome! So patience, the elephant in the room. If I may ask, how long has it been since baby #1? How big is your family support circle for helping to take care of the kids? It has been over 20 years since my baby #2 arrived but i can still feel the exhaustion of the following year. Between the ongoing needs of #1 then 17 months later the additional needs of #2 my wife and i couldn't sit still for months. ok, mostly her. She felt the weight of not being able to do things to her satisfaction and could not seem to scale back on the things that she was used to doing. If that does not sound like your situation at least accept my thanks for being reminded of a wonderful period of my life. I was just thinking that if you were thinking of setting up the tank and slow rolling it after set up you have a great idea to get it out of the way before the spring. then you have years of developing a mature reef as you raise the 2, 3, or more children that you are blessed with. on the other hand some of us dive headfirst into the deepest strongest current we can find, because...
welcome to R2R! I look forward to seeing your efforts rewarded

First one will be just turning two when the next baby is due (only a day apart if the doc is correct) I have definitely been going back and forth with setting up now vs a year or two from now. I figured I would wait until November when stuff starts going on sale to build this set up, so that still gives me a few months to weigh my options. I guess historically I have always been a head first type, it generally works for me but not always. I can be pretty dang stubborn once I make up my mind, haha. I am definitely open to other's experiences and opinions, otherwise I wouldn't be here. Haha. Let the opinions fly.

thanks for responding. the soothing sounds of water burbling is very restful, the ability of a two year old to get into stuff is amazing. if you are going in, childproofing is just another factor. there are definitely ways of blocking and latching that can minimize the stress of not seeing the crumb crunchers every second. my problem was having a 30 gal FW tank on an iron stand. perfect for little fingers to use to pull himself up on. and not very sturdy lol.with the cabinet stands and the size of a lot of tanks they don't move as much and are not open to exploration.

I've definitely started child proofing everything in the house, my current tank stand has a door with a easy internal child lock that does the trick, although as soon as I open the door my little girl charges in and starts grabbing anything she can, haha. luckily her favorite is a refugium light remote that isn't too fragile. WB stand looks like it would be easy to child proof, and there is no way they can move a 220g. But all factors I have to consider. Time considerations are probably #1 though, luckily I am a night person, I have a few hours to myself every night to get stuff done.

I joined R2R about a year and a half ago and made this original thread, at the time I was 2 months into a biocube and basically drinking information from a fire hose, now I'm a little over a year into a Waterbox 220 and still learning every day, but super happy I got into reefing. It's not cheap and it definitely eats up some free time, but it's all worth it and getting more enjoyable the more this all comes together. R2R is an awesome resource and has helped me get to this point.

Here's what I've been working on, and I'll soon be adding a bunch more sps from the recent Pieces of the Ocean sale.
