ok here we go i am 43 years young and my name is steve.i am from long island new york.i have had a few freshwater tanks growing up with my dad.now a dad myself with an 8 yr old i am back in the hobby.i have 2 tanks my son and i work on.first 26 gal bow i have had for 4 years and about 50 fish.now i have 2 giant danios,opealine gourami,a red lobester for about 2 months.running a penguin 200 bio filter and a 24in marineland reef led light(will explain later).
second a 55 gal saltwater fish only for about 3 years went thru some fish in 1st year.now have 8 to 10in lionfish,8 to 10in panther grouper and a 20 in snowflake eal for about 2 years now.have 4 pieces of instant reef artifiial coral,60 pounds of live sand and crushed coral 48in marineland reef led light.running a wet dry filter dont know what brand roughly 30x14x14, 20 pounds of live rock in sump layers of bio balls and pading under drip,500 gpa mag drive pump,8 watt uv light.will add pix later.ok wow that was alot of typing.
ok looking to convert fresh water tank to a reef tank (will probubly buy 20 gal marineland kit for freshwater fish).looking to use penguin 200 filter with spare cpr bac pac 2 (sitting in basement paid 20 bucks for) as filter/skimmer, led light,live sand and live rock.thats where i stand not knowing enough how to finish?or if this will work or just dreaming?so here i am on this site looking for answers and some help?
