Hi, just joined the site. I am from the Atlanta Reef Club, but since I frequently visit the N Ga area to see my family (grew up in Dalton) I figured I'd drop in and say hi. I have seen BKV1997 and Revhtree on our forums and they enticed me to see whats up over this way ;)

Just a little about me... I like anthias, sps, and am a T5 lover. I have a 140gal reef, with a 22 gal display refugium/mangrove farm.

Look forward to learning more about you guys and maybe dropping in on an event sometime.

You are welcome to join us anytime. Our meetings are usually on Sundays, but sometimes on Saturdays. Not too far away from Dalton. Have you been to 5th Day (LFS yet?) It's at ext 1 just across the TN border and is right across from Cracker Barrel. It's worth a visit sometime when you are up this way. The next local swap meet is near Nashville in Jan with the Middle TN Reef club. Of course a bunch of us are going....

Yeah, I'd love to come up thre sometime.

I am Derek_S on ARC as well. I was corvettecris a few weeks ago but have started making the move to use my real name on many of these forums. Just easier when you begin to actually meet people in person...

My system is pretty new, since I just upgraded to a 140 gal form a 30 gal. Many of my corals are still very small frags, but I will post some stuff here in a sec.

Equipment:
-Oceanic 140 gal tank (48 x 24 x 30) with homemade 40 gal breeder based sump and external oceanic ~22 gal refugium (24 x 18 x 12)

Hopefull that is not an overload, but that is the jist of my tank so far. As you see, many frags, but not a lot of grow out, yet.

I didnt label a lot of those, but I have been collecting a lot of LE and other stuff I like. Nothing is grown out to fragging size yet but notable things I have include:

Tyree Phonape Birdsnest
Tyree Sky Blue Mille
Blueberry Mille
Leng Sy Cap
ATL City Red Mille
Palmers Blue Mille
Several ORA things like Red Planet, Voodoo Stag, Unreal cap(?), Green BN, Pearlberry, maybe others. I still want joe the coral, plum crazy, and maybe ORA Boralis.
Many aqua/maricultured frags
Maybe others I dont recall...

Zoas Include (as far as I know, names are kinda liberally used sometimes)
Nuclear Greens
Lunar Eclipse
Blood Rain
Supernovas
Purple Deaths
Lord of The Rings
Armageddon
Eagla Eyes
Fire N Ice
Derek's LE Devil's Babies (Unknown little red zoas)
Tubs Blue
Midnights
Cand Apples
Eye of Rah
Devils Armor
Other unknowns........

My current fish list is (some pics include fomer residents):

Pacific Blue (hippo) Tang
Juv Shoulder Tang
Achilles Tang (beast)

Copper Banded Butterfly
Spotted Hawkfish

Bluntheaded Wrasse
Candy Hogfish

6 Lyretail anthias (1 male)
1 Purple Square anthias (male)
2 Tuka Anthias
3 Blotched Anthias
2 onyx-ish clowns (bought them as true percs and they kept getting darker)

Oh, an Achilles tang..... Nice. I've got a whopper Naso and a good sized purple. I've tried some powder blues, and had a good chance at one, but alas he died of ich. The other tangs are too dominant and the blues get ich immediately and die. I've given up. Donny has a fabulous (blanking on name) white tang with the stripes (poster fish on RC) that would look lovely in my tank, but he's probably 10inches long and would be too much fish weight with my other tangs for my tank. Not to mention he might just get ich and die as well after bringing him home (an expensive death) or worse, kill off my current tangs some how. Donny has a whopper Achilles as well (I think he's still there). Price tag keeps him there. Ouch.

I'm in Ooltewah. You know, in the future, maybe the ATL club could do a tank hopping day in Chatt. Make a day trip to see about 4 tanks and maybe we could do the same. That would be a lot of fun. Our club could do the Middle TN RC rounds. I know several people there would be glad to have a tank show. Like a garden show.... Hmm.

That would be fun!

The best thing I have found for keeping my achilles healthy is the UV. Many will argue that uv doesnt kill ich, but I started running UV and the achilles hasnt been better. HE still has a little ich now and then, but never to a deadly degree, and usually not even noticeable to most people. I use a 57W aqua with fresh lamps, and it works. If you really want a powder, I recommend trying that, if you havent already.
