Hello, I’m one of the “long time listener, first time callers.” Wanted to thank folks here for all the information I’ve taken while researching my reef. I purchased and set up my tank last week, I have two questions that my search results won’t help with. All the results are specific and my questions are vague.

1). What’s the preferred placement of an Ebo 100? It’s in the middle above the return pump now, almost horizontally but I’m concerned about overtime affecting the pump. Still want it below the water line for insurance until I get an ATO.

2). Return nozzles. Where should I point them? I’ve got a powerhead on the right wall pointed across the front. This is my first reef and plan on soft corals mostly with a pair of clowns and blenny after I’ve got sand dirty enough.

Thank you.

I also have IM 30. Returns can be pointed in a direction that best suites the live rock configuration and coral placement. As far as the powerhead, I have my wave maker pointed up into the flow of the returns to break up the steady flow they produce. Personally I'm always moving my return nozzles to see what my corals enjoy, its just a process of trial and error. Good luck!

Thank you! I didn’t think of using the powerhead with the nozzles.

How do you have your heater?

I run two heaters on my tank, I have them placed in the compartments on either side after the overflow just before the return pump compartment, it is a deep and entire heater can be submerged.

Ok, I like that idea. No worry about water level changing in those slots. Thanks again for taking the time to answer.

So the Eheim didn’t fit in the second chamber. I got added a Cobalt Neotherm to my InTank order and it fits great, no mo worries about the water level and way better heat consistency.

It’s 100w, it’s too long to be submerged in the second chamber.
