On the lighting note, if you haven't watched the series from BRS on YouTube where they test over 50 different lights and share their results, check it out. I found it extremely educational and helped me consider things with lighting I may never have. I wouldn't buy a light (or lights) until you've had a chance to watch them just for the simple fact that it'll help you select the products that fit they type of tank you want to build.

I appreciate it. I keep saying its going to be a bit of a budget build, but I look at things like socks and I know how work can be for me sometimes and I know I could miss them getting done. Just trying to match my time with my attempt to make it a budget build. Ill make sure to have a ton of pics.

I can agree with this sentiment, a roller mat was a really nice change for me as well for the same reasons you listed. Just one more thing to help keep stuff stable.. and one less to worry about. I know I'm not blowing up nitrates and it takes the burden of 3x times a week cleaning socks to once a month replacing a roll.

I haven't seen any comments on the powerheads. My $.02 - The ability to change the output or add random flow has made life so much easier with coral placement, rock-scaping etc. Some units have a controller while others use a phone app. I don't think you will regret getting something like a Nero 3 or a Gyre that lets you tweak it's output to your current situation. You don't have to buy something the "right size." Get something a bit more than you may need and dial it in.

My experience with Koralia left me frustrated... Definitely keep your mind open to other options that (IMO) you will be way happier with.

Gotta be honest I never really thought of it that way. I even kinda wondered why people need a controller for a powerhead but that completely makes sense. Might have to tweak that as well. Thank you!
