Lol. It is pretty darn good. We are happy so far. Just 2 things I have to get used to is the 10min feed timer (bit to long for me) and tunze's had night mode (run at 50% ) with auto moonlight cycle. But the tank looks so much nicer without the bulk look of 4 x tunze. Just. 1 low profile narrow tube does the job

Will this one gyre take the place of you 4 tunze? I'm trying to determine is one will be big enough for a standard 180.

Absolutely 100% yes. We have removed tunze's already. Played around with controller today. I have a decent video http://youtu.be/1O1hE05Koio. This will show you the movement from one end to the other on our 240g. This is taken at 30% only. Any more and lps are blown too much. Take a loon let me know your thoughts.

You mentioned that you tried putting it vertical but didn't like how it didn't break the water surface. Did it not agitate the surface at all? And how close to the surface was it? The way my tank is setup, vertical and to the back corner about 5-6" below the water surface would be ideal for me, but I really want the surface to be agitated somewhat to take advantage of the shimmer I get from my Kessil lights. What do you think, does it move the surface of the water just a little bit at least? And at what distance from the surface?

We have quite a deep tank 2.5feet so we had it vertical about half way down, it circulated around the tank beautifully but NO surface agitation at all.If you were to place it higher up in vertical position in a more shallow tank, there is a possibility i suppose. I am sure some one will be able to answer your question better than me. We thought about adding small tunze to break surface but like the slime line look of Gyer better. So horizontal it is for now. When we get our new build (peninsular) idea is to have one vertical & another horizontal to get the best of both worlds. The price is very reasonable for 2 of these compared to the 4 tunzes with controller we were using.

i would love to see pics of you setup with it mounted and running.maybe a vid.thanks

Well thank you. I have just started a thread under Reef aquarium discussion entitled "Gyer at 30% in 240g reef tank". show how the gyer works pretty well.
You can see from this phote with the 4 x tunzes running they were quite unslightly

You will notice in the video that they have been removed and looks much less cluttered.

Wow. I'm trying to figure out how to use on my 32 x 24 x 20 tank. I have a pair of wp40 now

Have to excuse the ignorance but we don't do inches here what is that in feet or better still cm. lol

Well. Thank you. We certainly put a lot of time into it. Appreciate the feedback a lot

This model 50w is probably no good for you. I would wait for the 35w. It's going to be shorter in length too. This one is roughly 13inches long. Won't be long to wait Xmas I believe.

Ok thanks, I guess I'll just have to wait to see how it'll do in my tank. Btw, great looking tank! I saw you have both a flame angel and coral beauty, do they get along pretty good?

Yeah no problems. Except flame weir jumped was out the tank for approx 12 hrs. When put back in coral beauty went nuts for about 2 days. Then all good again. Stupid thing must have thought he was a new addition ! Stupid fish. Lol

Lol. Thank you. We just are metric over here. Inches are extremely unusual to use. Sorry
