Just received a few corals today and the hammer looked like this in the bag. I let it float in the bag and dipped it no change. I’ve heard it could take a few days to a few weeks to open up. I still see flesh going to give it a while and hopefully it comes around. My torch from the same shipment has already opened quite a bit and looks good.

As long as you see color it's still alive. But hammers don't like to be on the sandbed. Low level rock placement or put the frag plug on a small piece of rock rubble then place on sandbed.
