New hammer - what is 'normal' behaviour?

Well that’s a tricky question, cause hammers love stability, and moving it around can stress it. Has anything odd happen that could of made it recede?

Your hammer looks perfectly healthy. The hammer will never fully cover the skeleton when open. If you dont like the skeleton base look, hang them on the wall.

Nothing odd, or new. Tested water a few days ago, and everything in range and normal (not much in the tank, so not much being used).
I just noticed it's not just that area but along the front. Backside still has 'flesh' down the base.

No ty XD

Two days ago there was a lot more flesh:

I cannot remember how far down the flesh was, when I got it, but something has changed.

Sounds like it’s still adjusting to it’s home, something with the params is ticking it off, or the flow may be too strong. Any video or pic of the flow on the receding side?

Well, flow changes during several times a day, so a single video won't do it.
I moved it just a bit, 10 min ago, as I wanted to move it anyway. It's already opening up again, so I'll add a video of flow shortly.

Less of an eye sore :)
It seemed to just close up for a couple of minutes.
Guess I'll leave it there for a while and see what happens. I'm not really that happy about this coral, so if it goes south, it only hurts my wallet.
You can always attempt to sell it or trade it if you don’t absolutely love it! Looks healthy but you know more than I do! I wish you the best of luck

Like the colors, but the polyps are short. Was hoping for a more fluffy piece.
Could possible extend more with time, or other light and flow.

Completely understand, bought a branching assuming it would be massively puffy, in realty the tentacles are very small. It’s okay cause it looks like a tree and it’s just some color to cover the rock!

I'll probably find a spot for it eventually.

Just thought I'd continue to update this thread for any potential future readers.
It's just a little more open, but only noticeable because of earlier pictures for reference:

So still waiting. Advice is welcome, if I should try any alterations.
as a future reader i appreciate your update! I just got my first wall hammer and it's only been in a couple days and still seems to be acclimating. Finicky is right... not quite opened up as much as your pic here but getting there i guess. I have a branching that is large and full but this one seems a bit different in that it won't get quite the same. Hope he adapts!
