hello, all!

I've always enjoyed my buddy's freshwater aquarium setups that he's had over the years, but I've never had my own. I've been seriously considering getting into the hobby, but jumping straight to marine/saltwater. I understand the value in getting experience in freshwater first, but I really kinda just want to go straight to the salty stuff.

I'm an avid fisherman, inshore and (preferably) offshore, I train and coach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, play bass guitar, and brew beer...but I need a relaxing hobby! The image in my head is sitting, sipping whiskey, staring in quiet contemplation at the reef tank over which I've doted as the reef denizens float and dart in and amongst the coral and live rock formations. That's what I'm looking for.

I still have a few months worth of research and time (planning a move closer to springtime), and I'm sure I'll have a few dozen questions before I even pull the trigger on a setup...so thanks in advance!

Welcome to R2R! That was quite a bit of poetry there. I think that's what we all hope for in this hobby, with variations on the beverage of choice. :)

Welcome aboard, If you plan on taking on a marine aquarium, patients is key and comb through reef2reef learning all you can. There are many articles and posts here that you can learn from. Bulk Reef Supply also has many informative videos.

Welcome to Reef2Reef! I went straight to the salt water side myself, so don't let that intimidate you.

I do have a very serious concern with your end goals. You brew beer.... yet you picture yourself sipping whiskey in front of your tank?

I mean, seriously???? :p

Hi I am also new and I was wondering what fish and coral would be good in a 20 gallon saltwater tank.
