Hello all, I've been lurking for some time, decided to pull the trigger and register.

I was bit by the SW/reef bug when I snorkeled down in Cancun many moons ago. Of course seeing photos of SPS dominated tanks helped quite a bit. After finishing my training I started to actually look for jobs in Florida to be closer to the saltwater (that and my love for growing mango trees). Unfortunately there aren't any SPS corals I had hoped for in the Gulf... My plan was to route some of the water from the gulf into my home for my tank. Long story short here I am.

Planning on a 180 ~ 240 gallon three side viewable tank. I have built DIY stands before which I will do this time around as well.

Where did most you guys order your tanks from? (better online or LFS?)

My one and only previous planted FW aquarium with exposed driftwood with airplants.

allow me to be the first to "warn" you - such a big tank with saltwater is gonna run into some serious money, and I am not even talking about the tank itself. :) It's gonna be awesome but ohhhh what a big box to pour money in to! looking forward to seeing your build!
Have fun and welcome. this is a great place

Welcome to R2R, Set a budget, do your research, and of course your are going to have a lot of question so ask away. I look forward to your progress.

Thank you everyone, sounds like the majority is for LFS. I was looking online and considered the red sea reefer xl 525.. but for that amount of money I only get the rimless tank/cabinet/sump/ATO
I know I can DIY a cabinet so that not a lot of tank for that much money.

Welcome to R2R, first off your planted tank was beautiful, before the SW bit I also had one with dwarf puffers. After seeing those pictures I can see why you got "bit":D looking forward to seeing your new tank. And you picked the right place:)
