New here! Is this a giant aiptasia?

It is. Using syringe, inject either lemon juice or better yet. . kalkwasser powder mixed with tank water into a paste the consistency of toothpaste and inject into the very center core and it will melt away
wont that spread it? i would remove rock and chip it off, including the piece of rock its attached too.

Nope- I have eliminated them here and there and if properly mixed and applied to center core, it destroys their cells

Hi all, also new to the forum. Figured I’d use a thread already created for a similar question. Trying to identify what these little things are . Appreciate everyone’s insights thank you.

and if (fat chance) this is the only one in the tank, anyone the above will dispatch this little bugger. I have also taken to injecting them with a tuberculin syringe and needle with Kalk slurry when they are in the over flow - if you get e good contained shot, its lights out...

However, it likely is not the only one and all I can say is the only place I see them in my system is in the overflows or in the sump that does not have a peppermint shrimp in it. Other displays which have peppermint shrimp have no aptasia visible, as goes the sump with shrimp

CB Aptasia eating filefish work too -

there are accounts of both of these biological control methods resulting in some soft coral predation as well - I have not seen any but clearly others do

Bon chance y'all
Thanks,

I’ve had a few outbreaks previously and used filefish and a monster peppermint, but not seen for about 3 years, hence why I started to wonder if this monster was something else.

Thank you all for the information. My plan for this tank (first tank started december 2022) was to hopefully create a natural eco system where the good and the bad things can somewhat co exist without me having to medicate or do anything drastic. So essentially i am thinking to let it spread a bit more as i do not plan to have a full out reef tank so space should be available for some coral and aiptasia and whatever else i end up getting.

Hydroids. Apply paste the same or a dab of gel superglue from dollar store on their heads
