First off, I'd like to say this is an awesome community... Been reading alot on this site for the past year or so while I got my tank together and going... I feel pretty safe and comfortable taking advice from anyone posting... I tried to get into this hobby for the past few years... Made a few mistakes buying garbage on craigslist and LFS... It seams like a very cut-throat hobby here in the Inland Empire... Pretty sad!!! This hobby to me is all about creating and maintaining life, which is very appealing to me. Ive been an athlete for more than 1/2 my life and now that sports are over and Im married with 2 kids under 5, im trying to find an equilibrium. I ABSOLUTELY love this hobby... Its crazy... Closest thing to me feeling-wise as playing sports... Which is weird... I know! SOOO..... With that said: I purchased a 72 gallon bow-front aquarium from a LFS... Non-reef ready! Did all mods myself without advice... So I know I screwed up somewhere... I read a post re ently about a dude that used to go into pet stores as a teen and always gravitate toward the saltwater aquariums... I was the same way.. For some reason they appealed to me more than the reptiles and such... With that said!!! Here is my first and hopefully successful attempt at creating LIFE in my 72 bow-front... I need as much advice or help I can get... I am 2 weeks in cycling... And my water parameters all all wacked out... So I am very excited to get some decent advice in what to do and progress!!!

Sorry the pictures are all jumbled... The small tank is going to be my quarantine tank... Wanted ti show you all that im running ro/di water

Berlin-style sump... Just picked up 2 phosban-150 reactors.. 1 running 100g of ROWA-phos... Phosphates have been running crazy high

Hi welcome to r2r.
What are the full parameters. And you should pull the chem filtration for now and get a baseline reading of the of the system water.

LFS says to run this for right now... You think no?
Me yes. You said Po was very high. By running a GFO you are removing it from the water Colum.
If you remove it , the GFO. it will tell us how Much Po is actually in the system. And if it's actually even worth removing.
I belive phosban also has an organics binder in it. By limiting that you may be stalling the cycle as you want that stuff to rot and make ammonia. It's not a likely scenario but why use a product to remove too much of something you probably don't have.

I'm a bit confused by your original post. What prob are you having is it just clarifying what your Params should be during the cycle?
How did you cycle the tank? Or what did you use to start It I should say.

Its been running that high... I think ot is because the dry-rock I have... Been through a few people now...

2 weeks into cycling is very early. If you want advice, you need to be very clear about what what has been done and how things currently are.

So, where did you get your rock and what are you doing to cycle it. What have your test results been?

I have had 2 raw shrimps in tank for the past few weeks and also a few fish flakes... I still have not hit ammonia spike...

Yea that's stupid high. It is by chance used San and used rock from an old tank?
