New Hobbyist need help

We are about 2 weeks in to cycling. Is this good or bad? The growth on the liverock is bubbling and I can't tell it it's red, brown, or cyano.

I can't tell from the pics but if it's 2 weeks old it's probably just algae cyano normally comes next. Do you have any fish yet? If not you can leave the lights off till then to help. One way or another the uglies are going to come. Only thing you can really do is try to prevent complete take overs. It will clear with time.

We do not have any fish yet. Would adding any crustaceans help?

Welcome to R2R! You’re off to a good start. Start thinking about how great your tank will look about 8 months from now... because the initial uglies will probably settle in at first.
